About Us
Opening Night Arts Group is an organization dedicated to promoting general education as well as education in the arts. The group also works to further the promotion of the fine and performing arts as a whole. Opening Night Arts Group provides a stage for adults and children to showcase and develop their talents while providing the highest level of artistic productions for the public. The organization presents a minimum of one mainstage teen and adult and one mainstage children’s theatrical productions per year.
For 2009, the teen/adult production will be Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat presented in four performances at the Dorothy Menker Center for Fine and Performing Arts at Moraine Valley Community College. This production will also include 50 talented children from grade 5 and above.
The 2009 children’s production will be Annie Jr. This show will be produced through Opening Night Youth Productions. The show will provide children in grades 5 through 9 a complete theatrical experience form auditions through choreography, vocal performances, and acting experience. This production will provide the children the experience of participating in a top level production in front of a general public audience.
Other projects in the planning are classes and workshops for children and adults. Areas of focus will be auditioning, singing, acting, dance, and art classes. Opening Night Arts Group is also planning an art show and cabaret/variety show.
All of Opening Night Arts Group’s productions are presented as fundraisers in connection with various charities. It is part of Opening Night Arts Group’s mission to give to the community with each event. Charities may present their information to the Opening Night Arts Group Board who votes on which charity to associate with each event. Opening Night Arts Group is also establishing a College Scholarship Fund and will provide scholarships to high school students each year.
