| New Facility! |
|
The Board of Directors is pleased to announce that we have a new rehearsal and class facility! The new "ONAG Headquarters" is located at 10946 Henry Drive, Mokena just off of LaGrange Road and 191st Street in the former Repro Graphics space. "Annie", "Joseph", Take A Bow and our newly offered Summer Mini-camps will rehearse in this facility. "Annie" will still rehearse the week of July 27th and the final week at Trinity Christian College. We are absolutely thrilled that we have a "home" for this summer and are looking forward to developing our programs. |
| Summer Mini-Camps |
|
Opening Night Arts Group is pleased to announce that we will be running several summer mini-camps in the month of June for grades 1-7 (entering). These camps are shorter and more basic than our summer production of "Annie", and on a smaller scale. There is no audition necessary for these "Level 1" camps, and the programs are a great opportunity for students just starting out in theatre, still developing their skills, or just want to see if they like it!
Junior Stars Theatre Mini-Camp Mondays – Thursdays June 15 – June 25, 2009 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. Age: Entering 1st through entering 3rd Grade $100 ONAG member/$120 non-member
Come join us for two weeks of learning and fun! Students will learn performing skills that help build self-confidence and self-esteem while having a blast! Successful and well-known area director Dee Hamilton joins us for this fun summer mini-camp. A short performance will follow the final session.
Broadway Magic
Mondays – Fridays June 15 – June 26, 2009 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Age: Entering 4th through entering 7th Grade$160 ONAG member/$180 non-member
Experience the magic of the Broadway Musical. Students will sing, dance and act as they prepare a Broadway Musical Revue and learn about different aspects of musical theater productions. A short performance will follow the final session. Directed by Dee Hamilton.
ARSENIC AND OLD LACE
Preliminary planning is underway for the fall production of "Arsenic and Old Lace". Opening Night Arts Group has hired Dee Hamilton as Director/Producer of the production.
We look forward to seeing you soon!

| Annie, Jr. |
|
Plans for the summer youth production of "Annie Jr." are going full steam ahead. Rehearsals will now be held at our new rehearsal facility located at 10946 Henry Drive, Mokena. Trinity Christian College will still be the rehearsal facility the week of July 27-31 (remember, we have rehearsal on a Friday that week) and the week of the shows, August 3-8. We are looking forward to a spectacular production, and we are all very excited! This event will benefit St. Judes. |
| Committees |
We're looking for help! Opening Night Arts Group members are invited to join us on one of our committees that are currently forming. Committees are a fun, easy and important way to get involved and help further ONAG's cause of promoting the arts through fundraising for charity. The committees now forming are: Social and Scholarship. The marketing committee has already been busy, but can always use extra help. E-mail info@openingnightartsgroup.org to help with marketing.
Social: The Social Committee is currently beginning plans for our main social event of the year, the ONAG Ball, which will most likely take place in February 2010. This will be an annual event and will feature our scholarship awards as well as our own version of the Tony awards, dancing, and fun! Contact kgrant@openingnightartsgroup.org if you are interested or have questions.
Scholarship: The Scholarship committee will soon be setting specific criteria and application processes for our first set of scholarships to be awarded in 2010. Later in the year the committee will review applications and make decisions for our first scholarship awards. Contact kmiller@openingnightartsgroup.org if you are interested or have questions. |
| Orland Days Parade |
Opening Night Arts Group will be participating in the Orland Days Parade on May 31, 2009. This is a huge opportunity for positive exposure for us. We have alot of fun ideas that will involve characters from the Variety show, the "Joseph" cast and the "Annie" cast (we will use children not actually in the "Annie" show since we have not yet assigned specific parts for the show). If you have a female child, smaller and in 5th or 6th grade who would like to dress up like the character "Annie", or if you (or spouse) have decoration/crafty or construction/handyman skill, we would love to have your help....it's going to be fun! E-mail jmiller@openingnightartsgroup.org to volunteer. | |
